In this study the effects of brain based learning activities on the 12th grade students’ academic achievements and the retention of their knowledge were investigated Descriptive research method was mainly conducted in this study It was also supported by correlation design study Pre test used in the differentation of students’ academic achievement levels was formed by comparing mean of preparation test results applied in October 2008 and later and mean of 2009 university entrance exam OSS results Statistically positive significant differences were observed between the results of the test applied to the students before brain based activities and the results of university entrance exam OSS 14 June 2009 in terms of students’ academic achievements A result in favour of males was gained in terms of gender and a positive relationship Key words: Brain based Learning Achievement Gender
