As a result of trying to explain development process with social indicators by United Nations social development problems became more important then it was In this study the human development index HDI as the most accepted index for measuring development with levels of education health and income will be analysed The purpose of the study is to evaluate the performance of Turkey by comparing developed and developing countries using the new method for measuring HDI and inequality adjusted human development index with its sub indicators which considers inequalities It could be seen that although Turkey improves its index values and reaches the world average in the period of 1980 2011 which the study is being held her performance is insufficient to catch up the developed countries Also when examined the values of inequality adjusted index because of inequalities in education and income the ample loss from the difference between the potential index values and performance could be seen The study exposes the necessity of dispelling the inequalities in the distributions of education health services and income for Turkey in order to catch up her potential at the improved level Key Words: Development Inequality Human Development Index
