Abstract:

Bu çalışma Birinci Dünya Savaşı’nda Osmanlı İmparatorluğu’nunönemli üç cephesinden biri olan Güney cephesinde 1916 yılında ortaya çıkan Arap isyanını incelemektedir. Çalışma Arap isyanının Arap milliyetçiliğinin sonucu olmadığını, savaş koşulları içinde gelişen ve İngiltere ve Fransa tarafından desteklenen bir stratejik düşüncenin sonucunda oluştuğunu tartışmaktadır. Çalışma, isyanın Mekke Emiri Şerif Hüseyin’in Arapları birleştirmekten çok Hicaz ve diğer Arap topraklarında hâkimiyet mücadelesinin sonucu olduğunu tartışmaya açmaktadır.   This study deals with the Arab Revolt emerged in 1916 in the Southern Front of the Ottoman Empire in the First World War. The study examines the revolt not as a result of a developing Arab nationalism, but as a consequence of the war conditions, and of a strategic thought of Britain and France against the Ottoman armies. The study discusses that the revolt was not to unite the Arabs around a common cause, but that it was a result of the Hashimites’ struggle for power and territory in Hejaz and in the other Arab territories.
