Abstract:

The world is in real danger as a result of selfish human activities of exploitation of everything. Unfortunately, the last century has shown us the increasing environmental problems. Human kind, when it was primitive for millions of years was no threat to the nature as they had nothing but comply with the natural forces and rules. However, with the technological advances and population increase, following the industrial revolution, human kind with its selfish attitude, managed to turn the world to a monster which will create a very bad end for all living beings on it. When the environmental problems are mentioned basically we first remember four types namely, air, water, land and noise pollution. National and international literature are quite generous when it comes to these four pollution types. Almost all books about environment give enough details about them in their first chapters if not in their introduction. In this paper, I tried to examine another environmental problem which is not studied in detail in Turkey. That problem is called light pollution and this paper tries to examine light pollution and its effects in a sociological manner.
