Abstract:

In Turkey, in various sectors, there are a need for qualified elements that are able to be active in the field of practice, with professional ethical awareness. The vocational universities are aimed at training qualified human power that can work in a variety of fields, from the industry to the public and service sector, with sufficient knowledge and skills. The Local Governance Program is a pre-graduate program with a two-year mandatory internship of professional colleges. The municipalities are in the character of a laboratory that will allow students to familiarize closely with the field of their profession. Students will find the opportunity to study the location of the municipalities, the local policy, the services areas, the organizational structure, the citizens’ municipal relations, the financial system, the interaction with the city in the stage process. The research conducted, Okan University's Professional High School of Local Governments program involves the study of the students on municipal stages. Internship satisfaction, student opinions on the contribution of the internship to the professional life, the degree of application of the course information in the internship is measured. The research method of the survey was also supported by interviews. The study found that local governments found that graduates were able to work in different municipalities and their internships increased their interest in the field of profession.
