The Thinking Process of Pupils at the Phase of Mathematics Project Construction: An Example of Primary Grade 6

Abstract enThe aim of the research was to determine critical steps which are crucial in project process, in order to reach project targets by promoting the students’ thinking process at the mathematics project work. So a project work was given about fraction and decimal fraction in a sixth grade of elementary school. The research was organized as revealing the students thinking process and follow the phase of the knowledge construction. The research was a case study. The study group was 23 students who were in sixth grade of an primary school. For data collection semi-structured interview and open-ended survey were used. Although the didactic aim of the project is forefront; it is thought there is some pedagogic acquisition. Although the mental process of students emphasized; displaying a product as a group, time planning, behaving for an aim together and presenting the product has been important.
