Determination Of University Students’ Attitudes Toward Reading Habit

Abstract enThe purpose of this study was to determine The Pamukkale University-School of Sport Science and Technology students’ attitudes toward reading habit and to analyze the differences among students’ attitudes in terms of gender and department. Total of 233 students [85 female ( Age= 21.42±1.77) - 148 male ( Age= 21.76±1.96)] who studying Department of Physical Education (n= 121), Recreation (n= 49) and Trainer Education (n= 63), participated the study voluntarily. “The Attitude Scale Towards Reading Habit (?= 0.88)” which contains 30 statements (21 positive-9 negative) and developed by Gömleksiz (2004a), completed as instrument to gather data. According to the results, it was found that female students’ attitudes ( =120.91±17.639) were more positive than male students ( =115.35±17.014). According to data analyzed, it was determined that there is only one significant difference in sub-scale of “love” according to department between Department of Physical Education and Trainer Education in favour of Physical Education students (p
