Abstract:

Abstract The aim of this study is to study the relationship between the beliefs of teacher candidates in self-quality towards the teaching profession and their attitudes towards the teaching profession. The sample of the study is made up of 193 final class teachers who studied and voluntarily participated in the study in the West Black Sea Region in the 2014-2015 academic year period, Kastamonu, Bülent Ecevit, Karabük, Abant İzzet Baysal and the University of Bartın. As a data collection tool in the research, the teacher self-capacity belief measurement developed by Tschannen-Moran and Woolfolk Hoy (2001) and adapted to the Turkish by Çapa, Çakıroğlu and Sarıkaya (2005) and the attitude measurement developed by Ünver, Bümen and Prime Minister (2008). In the analysis of the data, the visual analysis, the percentage and frequency values, the pearson moments, the correlation ratio test and the Manova test were used.At the end of this study; the gender of the teacher candidates, according to the university and academic average they studied, did not find a significant difference between both the teaching self-sufficiency beliefs levels and their attitudes towards the teaching profession. The research results also showed the existence of a meaningful and middle-level relationship between the teacher candidates’ teaching self-quality level and their attitudes towards the profession (r=. 393, p<0.05 has been shown.
