Abstract “On dokuzuncu yüzyılın ikinci yarısında İstanbul’da aktif bir menkul kıymetler borsası bulunduğu” bilgisi söylenegelir ancak bu cümlenin detayına ilişkin bilgilerimiz yetersizdir. Örneğin, On dokuzuncu yüzyıl İstanbul borsası ne kadar büyüktür? Borsanın günlük işlem hacmi veya işlem gören varlıkların piyasa kapitalizasyonu ne kadardır? Kaç çeşit hisse senedi ve tahvil işlem görmüştür? Bu konularda kesin rakamlar elbette bulunmamaktadır. Ancak dolaylı bilgiler yardımıyla bazı hesaplamaların yapılması mümkündür. Bu çalışmada, Al ve Akar (2013)’deyer alan verilerden yararlanılarak yukarıdaki soruların cevapları detaylandırılacaktır.
