So many results that aren't mine?

Abstract:

Mathematical literacy concept has been created after the reform movements in mathematics as a result of the changes in today's life conditions and qualifications expected from individuals. Self- efficacy is the belief of one's own abilities. It is targeted that prospective teachers have high level of mathematical literacy self-efficacy beliefs in mathematics education. The purpose of this research is to determine primary prospective mathematics teachers' mathematical literacy self-efficacy beliefs, and examine these beliefs in terms of gender and academic achievement. The research was carried out with the descriptive model. The study group consists of 168 primary prospective mathematics teachers. Mathematical Literacy Self-Efficacy Scale was used for data collection. The data were analyzed in terms of t-test, chi-square and correlation analysis. According to the result of the study, it was determined that primary prospective mathematics teachers' mathematical literacy self-efficacy were medium level. Furthermore, it was found that there weren't significant differences in primary prospective mathematics teachers' mathematical self-efficacy according to gender and academic achievement. And there wasn't a significant relationship between primary prospective mathematics teachers' mathematical self-efficacy and their academic achievement. The reasons for the lack of high level of prospective mathematics teachers' mathematical self-efficacy beliefs should be examined in detail.
