Abstract:

In this study, the comparative profiles of 495 teachers candidates who studied in Science, Primary Mathematics, Pre-School, Class Teaching, Social Information and Turkish Teaching programs were studied with cross tables and Ki-Care tests. The study found that 74% of the sampling consisted of girls and that the number of girls students was significantly higher than the number of men in programs outside the Social Information teaching. In the general perspective of the example, the percentage of teachers who saw the ideal professions before the university did not differ significantly from 50%, but the percentage of girls who did the ideal professions was significantly higher than the percentage of men. According to the disciplines, the ratio of those who see teaching as an ideal profession is significantly high in Pre-School, Social Information and Turkish teacher candidates, while 50% in Class teacher candidates and much lower in Primary Mathematics and Science candidates. Before entering the university, it has been concluded that teaching is an ideal profession from the indicators of socio-economic level, that it has no meaningful relationship with the family income, the father's educational level and the kind of learning environment, but has a meaningful relationship with the mother's educational level.
