Abstract:

In this study, the approach of the Turkish humour press to the concept of democracy and the way of 12th September 1980 Military Coup is discussed. The study evaluates the political and social processes experienced with the 12th September 1980 Military Coup on cartoons of Gırgır. The scope of this study is the political developments and political actors of the magazine, how they worked before and after the coup. In this study, has been attempted to demonstrate how the humorous criticism takes place Gırgır’s approach towards an anti-democratic process, the military coup.
