Maddeler ışığın bir miktarını emerek bir miktarını yansıtırlar. Bu emme ve yansıtma oranı renkleri meydana çıkarır ve gözde faklı şekillerde algılanmasına sebep olur. Günlük yaşantımızda görebildiğimiz her şeyin bir rengi mevcuttur. Renkler, söz varlığında da önemli yer teşkil etmektedir. Renk adlarının kullanım alanı bununla sınırlı olmayıp pek çok nesne, özel ad ve çeşitli soyut kavramları da karşılamaktadır. Eski Türk kültür çevresinde ve günümüzde renklerin bu özelliklerine sıkça başvurulmaktadır. Bu çalışmada Azerbaycan Türkçesindeki renk adları tespit edilerek yapısına göre sınıflandırılmıştır. Daha sonra renk adı içeren deyim ve atasözleri tespit edilip Türkiye Türkçesindeki anlamları verilmiş; atasözleri ve deyimlerde renklerin kazandığı soyut anlam özelliği incelenmiştir.

Everything we see in our daily lives has a color. Colors also play an important role in vocabulary. The use of color names is not limited to this, but it also meets many objects, special names and various abstract concepts. These characteristics of colors are frequently used in the old Turkish culture environment and today. In this study, color names in Azerbaijan Turkic were determined and classified according to their structure. Then detected idioms and proverbs contain color Turkish meanings given name; Proverbs and idioms have been examined for the feature of abstract meaning gained by colours.
