Atların ilk kez Türkler tarafından ehlileştirip binek hayvanı olarak kullanıldığı tarihi kaynaklarca bilinmektedir. Atlar, farklı özelliklerinden dolayı her yüzyılda ve her toplumda daima önemli bir yere sahip olmuştur. Günümüzde de bu özelliklerinin yanı sıra sanat alanında da kullanılmaktadır. Türk sanatçılarda da at figürünü farklı alanlarda birbirinden farklı tekniklerle eserlerinde yansıtmışlardır. At figürünü çalışan, günümüzden sanatçılarında biri “Süleyman Saim Tekcan” diğeri ise Iraklı sanatçı” Faik Hasan” dır. Süleyman Saim Tekcan’ın hat sanatıyla beraber resmettiği at figürlü çalışmaları, baskı alanında dünya çapında bir üne de sahiptir. Iraklı Faik Hasan ise at figürlerini yağlıboya eserlerinde oldukça yalın bir şekilde gerçekçi bir üslupta resmetmiştir. Irak’taki köy yaşamının yanı sıra kır hayatı da resimlerinde yer almıştır. Böylece sanatçının eserlerinde Irak’taki huzurlu bir dönemin izleri tarihin sayfaları arasından sevenleriyle buluşmaktadır. Bu makalede iki ülkenin önemli sanatçılarından olan Süleyman Saim Tekcan ve Iraklı Faik Hasan’ın eserleri incelenerek resimleri değerlendirilmiştir.
It is known by the historical sources that horses were first domesticated by the Turks. Horse always had an important role on every century for every society due to their distinct characteristics. The horse figure is used frequently in the filed of art as well. Turkish artists depicted the horse figure in their works with different techniques. Suleyman Saim Tekcan and Faik Hasan, the latter being an Iraqi artist, are among those artists working on the horse figure. Suleyman Saim Tekcan presented his works depicting horse figure by using calligraphy in a very decorative style. and earned a worldwide reputation in the field of printing. On the other hand, Faik Hasan used the horse figure in a very plain and realistic style in his art works with oil painting. Alongside the village life in Iraq, rural life is also included in his paintings. Thus, in the works of the artist, the traces of a peaceful period in Iraq meet with the art lovers within the pages of history. In this article, the works of Suleyman Saim Tekcan and Faik Hassan of Iraq, who are important artists of the two countries, are examined and their paintings are evaluated.
