Abstract:

The aim of this study is to study the OECD health indicators through structural equality modeling. For this purpose, the effects of selected independent variables (the doctor, the nurse, the computer tomography and the number of beds) on the dependent variables (health spending, lifetime and child death rate) have been tried to be identified. The data used in the study was collected from the annual database "OECD Health Statistics 2019" and tested using SPSS Version 24 and AMOS Version 23 programmes with structural equality model path analysis. The study was conducted using data from 35 OECD countries. According to the result of the model created, the number of nurses has a positive impact on health expenditure (0,70). Health spending is positive for the lifetime (0,47); the child death rate is negative (-0,58). The number of doctors and the number of computer tomography have a positive impact on health expenditure, but this effect is statistically meaningless (0,04 and 0,10 respectively). The impact of the number of hospital beds on health expenditure is negative but not meaningful (0,06).  According to the research, health expenditure has a strong relationship with the average lifetime and child death rate. That is, the country’s increased health expenditure has a positive impact on the health level.
