Abstract:

During the historical process, the way of life of the traditional person has changed, with technological advances in a different way. Together with popular science, the traditions, habits, ways of life, all behaviors that are human-specific have been recorded and transferred to the future. The recording of these values to a level that can be addressed to children is possible with cartoons. Societies use technology elements such as television, computer, telephone, which are the new generation of tools to transmit the elements of public science to children, and thus reach children. The main objective of this study in which the role of cartoons is studied in the transmission of popular science elements to future generations is to explore the popular science elements passed in the cartoons of Rafadan Tayfa. This study, designed using the quality research method, is structured as a case study to be thoroughly examined. The sample of the study is a part of Rafadan Tayfa, which is one of the cartoons children love and published on the TRT Children Channel, while the data was obtained by document review and analyzed by content analysis. The study has studied a total of 42 episodes of the cartoon of Rafadan Tayfa. As a result, the public science elements can be transmitted to children by cartoons and, in particular, in the teaching of traditions and traditions, cartoons can play an important role.
