Abstract:

The less developed and developing countries that are unable to use all of their production factors are in production with a lack of employment. This appears to be a major problem in the way of economic growth and development. Nowadays, when the employment figures are said, the employment of the labour force, which is one of the production factors, is reasonable. Unemployment, especially in the low-developed and developing countries, is the most important macroeconomic problem. In countries where the unemployment rate is high, some economic and social disasters are undergoing. The objective of this study is to investigate, based on the 1990-2010 employment figures, whether the policies implemented to prevent unemployment in Turkey are successful by comparative analysis method. The data of employment in the relevant period included in the study were taken from the Turkish Statistical Bureau (TÜIK) Labour Statistics Database. Although the policies implemented to prevent unemployment in Turkey have been partially successful, unemployment is still the most important problem due to the increased population. As a solution to unemployment, policies aimed at improving the quality of labour by providing education-industrial cooperation should be driven.
