Ritüel temelli bir kutlama türü olan festivaller, mensubu oldukları kültüre ait olan anlatılarla gerçekleşen bir yapıya sahiptir. Bu anlatılar kimi zaman gerçek hayatta var olan tarihî olay ve kişilerden beslenirken, kimi zaman ilgili kültürün arkaik inanışlarının yansımalarını taşımaktadırlar. Bunlardan biri olan mitolojik unsurlar da pek çok festival anlatısında yer almaktadır. Farklı coğrafyalarda bu gibi unsurlar ihtiva eden örneklere rastlamak mümkündür. Türkiye’de bu bağlamdaki örneklerin sayısı oldukça azdır. İzmir’in Karaburun ilçesinde her yılın Ocak ayında düzenlenen Nergis Festivali, sahip olduğu mitolojik anlatı ile bu kategoriye konulabilir. Bu makale, festival anlatılarındaki mitolojik unsurları, onların ritüelistik temellerini ve Türkiye’de bu açıdan örnek olarak gösterebileceğimiz Nergis Festivali’ni değerlendirmeyi amaçlamaktadır.
The festivals, which are a ritual-based celebration type, have a structure that takes place with the stories that belong to the culture they belong to. These stories sometimes feed on historical events and persons that exist in real life, but sometimes bring reflection of the ancient beliefs of the relevant culture. The mythological elements are also included in many festival stories. It is possible to find examples containing such elements in different geographical areas. The number of examples in this context in Turkey is quite small. The Nergis Festival, which is held in the Karaburun district of İzmir in January of each year, can be placed in this category with the mythological narrative it has. This article aims to evaluate the mythological elements in the festival stories, their ritual foundations and the Nergis Festival, which we can show as an example in this regard in Turkey.
