Abstract:

The aim of this study is to analyze the reasons why students who prefer the Department of Health Management choose this section, the desires to continue to the section and the attitudes to change the section.In the study, the 2017-2018 spring period Selçuk University Department of Health Management used the survey form consisting of 10 questions developed by the researcher with the participation of the 1st and 2nd grade bachelor students. Required official permits for the work. The data was analyzed with the Microsoft Excel 2007 program.The majority of participants are graduates from the Anatolian High School. “The health management profession is the priority in the professions you want to be,” only 10% of students responded as the first place. A 44.4 percent of the students participated in the statement that the score was sufficient for this section. The majority of students have stated that they prefer the health management department in four or higher rankings in the OPCW preference lists. Approximately one-third of students have sufficient knowledge before making a choice. 56% of participants expect a mixed training model in which theoretical training and practical training are combined from the reading section. 43.9% of their students said their priority goals in the Department of Health Management were to be a successful student only in their own fields. A 26.3% of students found that they wanted to be in the management staff in the public sector after graduation. The majority of students don’t think of making a department or university change. The expectations of the participants from the health management are high. The expectations of first-class students are higher than of second-class students. It also makes sense that the student's lack of desire to change the department makes it clear that they are satisfied with the Department of Health Management.

Abstract:

The aim of this study is to analyze the reasons to prefer this department of the students who prefer the Department of Health Management, the reasons choosing this department, their wishes to continue with the department and their attitude towards the change of a department. Method: In this study, a questionnaire comprising 10 questions which progressed by the researcher with the participation of 1st and 2nd-year undergraduate students of Selçuk University Department of Health Managementwas used. We got thenecessary official permits for the study. We have analyzed the data with Microsoft Excel 2007 program. Results: Some parts of the participants were Anatolian high school graduates. The majority of the participants are that they do not consider among the professions in which want to choose the health management department; that the main reason for the majority of the students to prefer the health management department is that the ÖSYM scores are sufficient for this department that the majority of the students prefer the health management department in the rank of four or higher in the ÖSYM preference lists; it has seen that approximately 1/3 of the students have enough information before making their choice. A significant part of the participants expects mixed training which supported by practicing theoretical training from the health management department. Almost half of the participants expect a mixed-education in which a good education and theoretical training in health management supported by practice studies. Nearly half of the students want to be a successful student in their own fields in the health management department. 26.3% of them aim to be a leader in their fields and after graduation, they aim to take part in the management jobs in the public sector. Most of the students do not think to change departments or universities. Results: Expectations of the participantsfrom the department of health management are high. In particular, the expectations of first-year students are higher than the second-grade students.
