Abstract:

In this study the relationship between foreign trade and economic growth in Turkey is investigated by using data between 1969-2016 annually. The variables used in the study are stabilized by Augmented Dickey-Fuller test before Granger Causality test conducted. Because of long term relationship between variables determined by Johansen Cointegration test, Vector Error Correction Granger Causality test is conducted. As a causality relationship is determined between export and import and between import and economic growth. The result of the study indicates economic growth is based on import in Turkey.
