Türkiye’de Programlama Eğitimi ile İlgili Yapılan Çalışmaların İncelenmesi: Bir Betimsel Analiz Çalışması

Abstract:

Bu çalışmanın amacı, Türkiye’de programlama eğitimi üzerinde yapılan çalışmaları incelemek ve bunun sonucunda ortaya çıkan durumlar açısından eğilimlerinin hangi yönde olduğunu tespit etmektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda 2008-2018 yılları arasında yayınlanan YÖK TEZ veri tabanındaki 68 tez ve TUBİTAK ULAKBİM veri tabanındaki 78 makale olmak üzere toplamda 146 çalışma incelenmiştir. İlgili yayınları değerlendirmek için literatürden yararlanılarak geliştirilen çalışma inceleme formu, programlama eğitimi için revize edilerek kullanılmıştır. Formda ilgili çalışmanın künyesi, çalışmanın özellikleri, araştırma yöntemi, veri toplama araçları, örneklemi, örneklem büyüklüğü ve veri analiz yöntemi kategorileri bulunmaktadır. Bu kategorilere göre çalışmalar betimsel analize tabi tutulmuştur. Analiz sonucuna göre çalışmaların en çok 2018 yılında yapıldığı belirlenmiştir. Çalışmaların çoğu programlama konusunda, Bilişim Teknolojileri ve Yazılım dersinde ve Scratch yazılım aracı kullanılarak yapılmıştır. Makalede nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman analizi, tezlerde nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden yarı deneysel desen kullanılmıştır. Veri toplama aracı olarak tezlerde likert tipi anket/ölçek kullanılırken, makalede ise bunun yanı sıra doküman kullanıldığı görülmektedir. Örneklem olarak makale çalışmaların çoğu lisans grubunu, tez çalışmaları ilköğretim(5-8) grubunu seçmiştir örneklem büyüklüğü olarak 31-100 arasında kişi belirlenmiştir. Veri analiz yönteminde ise tezlerde t-testi kullanılırken, makalede içerik analizi kullanıldığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

Review of studies related to programming education in Turkey: a visual analysis study

The aim of this study is to study the work on programming education in Turkey and to identify in what direction their trends are in terms of the circumstances arising from it. In accordance with this goal, a total of 146 studies, including 68 theses in the YÖK TEZ database published between 2008-2018 and 78 articles in the TUBITAK ULAKBIM database, have been studied. The study review form developed using literature to evaluate relevant publications has been used by revised for programming training. The form includes the corner of the relevant study, the characteristics of the study, the research method, the data collection tools, sampling, the sampling size and the data analysis method categories. According to these categories, the studies have been subjected to visual analysis. According to the analysis, most of the studies have been conducted in 2018. Most of the studies were conducted in programming, IT and Software courses and using the Scratch software tool. In the article, the document analysis of the qualitative research methods, the thesis used a semi-experimental pattern of the qualitative research methods. The data collection tool is used in the texts of the likert type survey/size, while in the article it is also seen that the document is used. As an example, most of the article studies have chosen the license group, the thesis studies have chosen the primary(5-8) group; the sample size is determined between 31-100 people. In the data analysis method, the t-test is used in the theses, and the result is that the content analysis is used in the article.

The aim of this study is to examine the academic studies on programming education in Turkey and to determine the direction of the trends, in terms of the resulting conditions. In accordance with this purpose, 68 master and Ph.D. theses from the YÖK THESIS database, written between the years 2008-2018, and 78 articles in the TUBITAK ULAKBIM database were examined: in total 146 studies. The study review form, developed using the literature to assess related publications, was revised for programming education. Identification of the study, characteristics of the study, research method, data collection tools, sampling, sample size and data analysis method categories of the study are included in the form. According to these categories, academic studies were subjected to descriptive analysis. According to the results of the analysis, it was determined that most of the studies were carried out in 2018. Most of the studies were carried out on programming in the Computer and Instructional Technologies course and using the Scratch software tool. Document analysis from qualitative research methods was used in article studies, and semi-experimental design from quantitative research methods was used in theses. While a Likert type questionnaire/scale was used as a data collection tool in theses, articles additionally used documents. As for sampling, most of the article studies selected participants from the undergraduate group, and the thesis studies from the primary education group (5-8); the sample size was determined to be between 31-100. In the data analysis, a t-test was used in the theses and content analysis was used in the articles.
