Abstract:

Baqustanî is one of the most important scholar poets of the 20thCentury. Baqustanî wrote Kurdish and Arabic poems and has three Kurdish and six Arabic, a total of nine unpublished works. In this study, one of his works in Kurdish, the mawlid will be reviewed. This study would initially introduce brief history of the mawlid and the mawlid tradition among Kurds. After providing artistic, formal and contextual information on Mullah Ali Baqustanî’s mawlid, the transcribed original text of the work will be presented. However, there is another version of the work, which is written by Mullah Hilmi el-Koğî under the auspice of the author while he was alive. Koğî omitted certain verses he considered objectionable and corrected some to keep the rhyme. He also inserted some of his own. This study will further compare the two versions by providing the differences in the second version in the footnotes
