Abstract:

Gediz Havzası, hemen her douml;nemde, ulaşım bakımından ouml;nemli bir guuml;zergacirc;hı teşkil etmiştir. Ouml;zellikle Ege kıyıları ve Batı Anadolu'yu İccedil; ve Doğu Anadolu'ya ve hatta daha ouml;telere bağlayan ana yollar (Kral Yolu vd), bu havzadan geccedil;miştir. Buuml;yuuml;k ouml;lccedil;uuml;de coğrafyanın belirlediği nispeten sık dokulu doğal yollara sahip olan havza, her mevsimde nispeten kolay ve kesintisiz bir ulaşımının yapılabildiği ouml;nemli bir geccedil;iş sahasını oluşturmaktadır. İlkccedil;ağ'dan başlayarak guuml;nuuml;muuml;ze kadar devam eden iskacirc;n tarihi boyunca havzada, ouml;nemli medeniyetler kurulmuş ve bu douml;nemlerde ccedil;ok sayıda su yapıları ve kouml;pruuml;ler inşa edilmiştir. Fakat yapıların buuml;yuuml;k bir kısmı maalesef buguuml;ne ulaşmamış, bir kısmı harabe durumuna gelmiş ve bir kısmı da eski işlevini halen suuml;rduuml;rmektedir. Havzanın iskacirc;nı ccedil;ok eski olmakla birlikte, buguuml;ne ulaşan ve makalede ele alınan tarihi kouml;pruuml;lerin hemen tamamı Osmanlı douml;nemine ait yapılardan meydana gelmektedir.nbsp; Tarihi kouml;pruuml;ler, havzadaki eski ulaşım guuml;zergacirc;hlarının belirlenmesinde ve ulaşımda fonksiyonel suuml;rekliliğin ortaya konulmasında ouml;nemli kalıntılardır. Aynı mevkide tarihi bir kouml;pruuml;yle yeni bir kouml;pruuml; birlikte gouml;ruuml;lmekte ve ulaşım bakımından fonksiyonel suuml;rekliliğe işaret etmektedir. Buna karşılık ana yollara uzak kalan kouml;pruuml;ler de vardır ve bunlar zamanla ulaşım guuml;zergacirc;hının değiştiğini ortaya koymaktadır. Keza tarihi kouml;pruuml;ler, turizm, yerleşme, ekonomik faaliyetler (ouml;zellikle ticaret), mimari, tarihi, edebiyat ve ouml;zellikle yerel kuuml;ltuuml;rel değerler bakımından da buuml;yuuml;k ouml;nem arz eden yapılar olarak dikkati ccedil;ekmektedir. Anahtar Kelimeler: Gediz Nehri, tarihi su yapıları, tarihi kouml;pruuml;ler, ulaşım coğrafyası. nbsp;Abstract The Gediz Basin has always been an important route in terms of transportation in almost all periods of time. The main roads (the Royal Road and others) connecting particularly the Aegean coasts and Western Anatolia to the Central and the Eastern Anatolia, even farther, crossed this basin. With relatively dense textured natural roads defined largely by the geography, the basin constitutes an important passage area allowing relatively easy and uninterrupted access in all seasons. Major civilizations have been established in the basin during the history of settlement since the Antiquity, and a large number of water structures and bridges were built in those periods. Unfortunately, however, a large portion of these structures have not survived to date, some have fallen into ruins, but some still serve their original purpose. Even though settlement in the basin dates back to very early times in history, almost all of the historical bridges that have survived to date and are dealt with in this paper consist particularly of the structures belonging to the Ottoman period. Historical bridges are important remnants that determined the historic transport routes and ensured functional continuity in transportation in the basin. A historical bridge and a newly built bridge can be seen together in the same location, indicating a functional continuity in terms of transportation. On the other hand, there are bridges that remained away from the main roads, and these show that the transport routes have changed in the course of time. Likewise, bridges draw attention as very important structures also in terms of tourism, settlement, economic activities (particularly trading), architecture, history, literature and particularly local cultural values. nbsp;Key Words: Gediz River, historical water structures, historical bridges, transport geography.
