Bu çalışmada, Abant İzzet Baysal Üniversitesi, Beden Eğitimi ve Spor Yüksekokulunda, Beden Eğitimi Öğretmenliği, Antrenörlük Eğitimi ve Spor Yöneticiliği Bölümlerinde okuyan öğrencilerin umutsuzluk düzeylerinin cinsiyet, sınıf ve bölümlere göre incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmaya Beden Eğitimi ve Spor Yüksekokulunun Beden Eğitimi Öğretmenliği, Antrenörlük ve Spor Yöneticiliği bölümlerinin 1, 2, 3 ve 4. sınıflarında öğrenim gören 110 kadın ve 191 erkek olmak üzere toplam 301 öğrenci katılmıştır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak Beck ve ark. (1974) tarafından geliştirilen, Türkçeye uyarlaması Seber (1991) tarafından yapılan “Beck Umutsuzluk Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen veriler t testi ve tek yönlü varyans analizi yöntemleri kullanarak analiz edilmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre öğrencilerin umutsuzluk düzeyleri cinsiyet değişkenine göre incelendiğinde kız ve erkek öğrencilerin umutsuzluk düzeyleri arasında anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmuştur. Erkek öğrencilerin umutsuzluk düzeyleri ( ̅=4.81) kız öğrencilere ( ̅=3.76) göre daha fazladır. Öğrencilerin umutsuzluk düzeyleri hem bölümlerine hem de sınıflarına göre anlamlı bir farklılık göstermemiştir.
In this study, hopelessness level of students at Abant İzzet Baysal University, School of Physical Education and Sport was determined according to their gender, class level and department. 110 female and 191 male students with a total of 301, from 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th class levels of Physical Education Teaching, Coaching and Sport Management departments were participated in this study. Data was collected through Bech Hopelessness Scale which was developed by Beck et all. (1974) and translated into Turkish by Seber (1991). In the analysis of data, one way Anova and t test were used. It was found that there were significant differences in the students’ hopelessness level according to their gender. The male students ( ̅=4.81) have higher level of hopelessness than female students ( ̅=3.76). Also, according to the results, there were no significant differences in hopelessness level of students according to their class level and department.
