Abstract:

Health and communication are a necessity rather than a choice for individuals. In this study, the factors affecting the communication processes between patients and physicians tried to be examined. The study aims to contribute to the development of communication processes between physician-patient, patient-physician by addressing the communication phenomenon of interpersonal communication based on health communication. In this context, the problem of the investigation is the lack of communication between patients and physicians. The target population of the study is all patients and medical doctors. In parallel with this purpose, the sample of the study was limited to 20 physicians serving in a private hospital and 20 patients coming to this hospital. In addition, in the implementation and monitoring section of the study, face-to-face discussions were made with in-depth interviews with patients and doctors. The data obtained during the interview process were analyzed using the content analysis method. It has been found that interpersonal attitudes and behaviors play a crucial role in physician-patient communication. Besides, it concluded that the demographic characteristics and social status of the patients shape physician-patient relations. Moreover, most physicians do not use a communication method specific to them while communicating with the patients. Additionally, it has been observed that internet-based online platforms affect both communications between health actors and organizational image.
