Abstract:

Through financial performance evaluation, possible risks and threats are revealed, the financial situation of the firm is seen more clearly and financial planning is done correctly. Due to its structure, financial performance analysis contains many alternatives and criteria. This is seen as a Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) problem. This study aimed to evaluate the financial performance of 10 construction companies traded in BIST with SECA, one of the MCDM methods. Accordingly, the financial performance of construction companies was evaluated using the Simultaneous Evaluation of Criteria and Alternatives (SECA) method based on eight financial ratios determined as a result of a comprehensive literature review. First, the decision matrix with negative values was transformed into positive using the Z-Score standardization method. Then, the SECA method was used both to determine the weights of the criteria and to rank the alternatives according to their performance. At the end of the study, while the most important criterion was the return on assets (K4), ORGE took the first place in terms of financial performance. Due to the model used and the analysis covering the pandemic period, it is thought that the study will contribute to the literature.
