Bu araştırmanın amacı, okul öncesi eğitim kurumlarına devam eden çocukların bilimsel süreç becerilerini geliştirmeye yönelik oyun tabanlı öğretimin etkisini incelemektir. Nicel araştırma yaklaşımına göre yürütülen çalışmada müdahale araştırma deseni tercih edilmiştir. Araştırmada altı hafta süren oyun tabanlı öğretim sürecinden iki hafta sonra kalıcılık testi uygulanmıştır. Çalışma grubunda Mersin ilinde bulunan ve anasınıfına devam eden 9 kız, 9 erkek olmak üzere toplam 18 çocuk yer almaktadır. Veriler “Okul Öncesi Bilimsel Süreç Becerileri Testi” ile toplanmıştır. Çocukların bilimsel süreç becerileri alt boyutları olan gözlem, sınıflama, ölçme, tahmin etme, verileri kaydetme ve sonuç çıkarma becerilerine verdikleri cevaplar incelenmiştir. Bilimsel süreç becerileri testi ön test, son test ve kalıcılık testi olarak uygulanmıştır. Veri analizinde Wilcoxon işaretli sıralar testi kullanılmıştır. Hazırlanan oyun tabanlı öğretim uygulamasında çocukların bilimsel süreç becerilerini destekleyici oyunlar yer almıştır. Araştırma sonucuna göre, bilimsel süreç becerilerini geliştirmeye yönelik oyun tabanlı öğrenme yönteminin çocukların bilimsel süreç becerilerini geliştirmede etkili olduğu ve ön test ile son test puanları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılığın olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca oyun tabanlı öğrenme yönteminin çocuklarda bilimsel süreç becerilerini kazandırmada kalıcı etki bıraktığı sonucuna da ulaşılmıştır.
This study aimed to examine the effect of game-based instruction in improving scientific process skills of children attending preschool education institutions. The study followed a quantitative research method by intervention research. The permanence test was given two weeks after the game-based teaching process, which lasted six weeks. The study group consisted of 18 children (9 girls, 9 boys) attending a kindergarten in Mersin. Data were collected by “Preschool Scientific Process Skills Test” developed. Children’s responses to sub-dimensions of Scientific Process Skills, which are observation, classification, measurement, prediction, data recording and inference skills, were examined. The scale was applied as pre-test, post-test and retention test. Wilcoxon signed rank test was used for data analysis. The game-based curriculum, prepared in this framework, included games supporting the scientific process skills of children. According to the results of the research, it was found that game-based instruction that focused on improving scientific process skills was effective in changing children’s scientific process skills and there were significant differences between pre-test and post-test scores. In addition, it was concluded that game-based instruction had a lasting effect to teach children scientific process skills.
