Abstract:

The concept of entrepreneurship is examined culturally, sociologically and economically in the literature and the characteristics, preferences and qualities of the entrepreneurs have been investigated, but the cognitive aspect of entrepreneurs has been ignored. The purpose of this research; to determine the relationship between cognitive styles and entrepreneurial tendencies of students. The research was carried out in five different academic units at Pamukkale University. In this context, a questionnaire was applied to associate degree and undergraduate students and 680 students were reached. As a result of the research; A significant relationship was found between the cognitive styles and entrepreneurship tendencies of the students studying in higher education. Accordingly, students with field-independent cognitive style characteristics show more entrepreneurship tendency than field-dependent students. In addition, a significant relationship was found between the cognitive styles and entrepreneurial tendencies of the students with associate degree. Students who have independent independent cognitive style at the associate level are found to be more entrepreneurial than the students with field dependent cognitive style. However, the significant difference between these two variables was not found among the undergraduate students. In addition, a significant relationship was found between income level and cognitive style.
