Abstract:

Plants that form the subject of literature and are a way to explain emotions, are present in every field of life. The benefits of the plants for nature with their color, smell and image are many. In every language, many plants are named based on their similarities with objects in nature. Some plant names have references from objects in nature to plants. In the plant names, the names of animals, the names of organs, the names of objects and the names of land are used. In this study in the Turkish Verintists Dictionary, the names of plants, flowers and decorative plants have been evaluated. The Turkish Verintis Dictionary contains words from different languages of Turkish. It is a work that translates information to other languages than Turkish, which is located in the field of meaning of the language it passes. In the Turkish Verintiler Dictionary, 23 flower and decorative plants have been identified in the plant names. From the flowers and decorating plants passing from Turkish to other languages, the largest number of flowers names (10) have passed, then the names of Simbul (9), Karanfil (8), Gül, Lâle, Menekşe (7), Sarısabır, Shemboy (6) have been identified. The languages with the most number of flower and decorated plant names are found in Bulgarian (18), Serbian and Armenian (13), Greek (12), Albanian (12), and Macedonian (10).
