Bu araştırmanın amacı matematik öğretmeni adaylarının iki değişkenli eşitsizliklerin cebirsel ve grafiksel gösterimlerini oluşturma hususunda yeterliliklerini ve yaptıkları hataları belirlemektir. Araştırmanın katılımcılarını bir devlet üniversitesinin ilköğretim matematik öğretmenliği programının birinci döneminde öğrenim gören 60 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmada veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen ve toplamda 8 sorudan oluşan bir test kullanılmıştır. Testin ilk 4 sorusu öğrencilerden cebirsel olarak temsil edilmiş eşitsizliklerin çözüm kümelerinin Kartezyen düzlemdeki görüntüsünü oluşturmayı istemektedir. Diğer 4 soruda ise öğrencilerden, çözüm kümeleri grafiksel olarak temsil edilmiş eşitsizliklerin cebirsel ifadelerini belirlemeleri istenmiştir. Araştırmada elde edilen bulgular, katılımcıların iki değişkenli eşitsizliklerin cebirsel ve grafiksel temsillerini oluşturma yeterliliklerinin düşük olduğunu ortaya koymuştur. Bu durumun ortaya çıkmasına neden olan etkenleri belirlemek için, öğrencilerin cevapları incelenerek yaptıkları hatalar ve sahip oldukları yanılgılar belirlenmiştir. Yapılan incelemede, öğrencilerin fonksiyon grafiklerini çizebilme becerilerinin iki değişkenli eşitsizliklerin grafiksel temsillerini oluşturma hususunda kritik bir ön bilgi olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. Öğrencilerin yeterliliklerinin düşük olmasının bir diğer sebebi, eşitsizliklerin cebirsel ifadesini oluşturmada mantıksal bağlaçların kullanılmaması ya da yanlış kullanılması olarak belirlenmiştir. Bununla birlikte öğrencilerin bir kısmının, mantıksal bağlaçlar ile kümelerdeki kesişim ve birleşim işlemleri arasındaki ilişkiyi tesis edemediğinden, bağlaçların çözüm kümesinin belirlenmesinde nasıl bir rol üstlendiğini bilmedikleri tespit edilmiştir. Araştırmada ulaşılan sonuçlar temelinde iki değişkenli eşitsizliklerin öğretim sürecine yönelik önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
The aim of this study is to identify the qualifications and errors that the math teacher candidates make in creating the gabbage and graphic exhibitions of two variable inequalities. The study includes 60 students who study in the first semester of a state university's primary mathematical teaching program. In the study, a test developed by the researcher as a data collection tool was used, consisting of a total of 8 questions. The first 4 questions of the test ask students to create an image on the Cartezyen plate of the solutions set of inequalities represented in the gabbage. In the other 4 questions, students were asked to identify the gabarit expressions of inequalities represented graphically by the solutions sets. The findings obtained in the study showed that the participants were low in the ability to create gabbage and graphic representations of the two variable inequalities. To identify the factors that cause this situation to occur, students have identified the errors they made and the errors they had by examining the answers. The study found that the ability of students to draw functional graphics was a critical pre-knowledge in creating graphic representations of two variable inequalities. Another reason that students’ qualifications are low is determined as the lack of use or misuse of logical connections in creating a gabbistic expression of inequalities. However, some of the students have not been able to establish the relationship between logical connections and crossings and unification processes in groups, so they have not been found to know how the connections play a role in determining the solution set. Based on the results achieved in the study, two variable inequality teaching process recommendations were made.
