Abstract:

This paper is about H. Tahsin Nuri, whose name is almost never mentioned in the history of Turkish literature, and his only known novel, Yiğitler (The Valiants). The main purpose of the study is to introduce the author and his work. Thus, it is thought that the studies to be made to clarify his position in the history of literature will be pioneered. In this aspect, in the first chapter, the author’s life was focused and a general portrait was drawn based on the pieces of biographical information reached. In the second chapter, based on the preface of the novel Yiğitler, his views on art and literature are mentioned. Then, the thoughts of Cenap Şahabettin, the only known critic of the text, about the work were emphasized. Finally, the novel Yiğitler focused on, and a structural and thematic analysis of the text was made. As a result, it has been seen that the novel has the characteristic features of the Turkish National Literature period, both in terms of language and style and ideological.
