Doğu-İon Sanatı'nın Geç Arkaik dönem eserleri üzerinde yapılan çalışmalar göstermektedir ki Arkaik dönem içinde bütün doğu Grek bölgelerinde geçerli bir dönem stili bulunsa da farklı sanat merkezlerinde bölgesel özellikler açık bir şekilde görülmektedir. Bununla birlikte Anadolu'da Geç Arkaik dönemde İon heykeltıraşlık okullarının etkisi açık bir şekilde görülür. Doğu-Grek Anadolu kültür çevresinin merkezi konumdaki Milet şehrinin Persler tarafından tahrip edilmesi İon Sanatı'nın da sonunu getirmiştir. Buna karşın Milet kaynaklı heykeltraşlık okulları Doğu-Grek dünyasının Propontis, Thasos, Trakya, Makedonya ve Pontus gibi kuzey alanlarında varlığını sürdürmüştür. Sinop stelleri İon heykeltıraşlık okullarının etkisinin çok açık bir şekilde görüldüğü örnekler olup Atika'daki mezar steli geleneğinin aynı zamanda Anadolu'daki Grek bölgelerinde, özellikle Milet kolonisi olan Sinop varlığını devam ettirdiğinin en önemli kanıtlardır. Çalışmaya konu olan stellerde bu etkilerin en iyi şekilde izlendiği örneklerden biridir. Bu kapsamda steller benzerleriyle karşılaştırılarak, üzerindeki figürlerin stilistik ve tipolojik incelemelerinden yola çıkarak, tarihlendirmeye çalışılmıştır.
