Abstract:

The objective of this research is to study the influence of educational films in the teaching of the 6th class Science course in Our Body Systems Unit on students’ academic success and interest levels towards the subjects of science. The sample of the study consisted of a total of 55 students who studied in the 6th grade of a secondary school located in Ankara, Mamak County during the 2018-2019 educational year. Learning was continued with the 5E learning model, with educational films in the experimental group and with the control group, without the use of educational films. Half-experimental patterns were used to collect data in the research. The study found that there was no statistically significant difference between the group’s both emulsion system success pre-test score average and the system success pre-test score average. However, the students in the experiment and control group found that after the study, the discharge system has a statistically significant difference in the success of the final test score average and the system success test score average in favour of the experiment group. According to another outcome from the study, there was no statistically significant difference between the average pre-test score of the scale of interest of students in the experiment and control groups to the subjects of pre-application science. Finally, in post-application measurements, the scale of interest for the subjects of the groups in science has shown a statistically significant difference between the final test points.
