Bu araştırma, eleştirel düşünme becerilerini temel alan fen eğitiminin fen bilgisi öğretmen adaylarının problem çözme beceri düzeyleri üzerine etkisini, cinsiyet ve mezun olunan lise türünü de dikkate alarak incelemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmada yarı deneysel yöntem, kontrol-deney gruplu deneysel desen kullanılmıştır. Araştırma 2006–2007 eğitim-öğretim yılı güz döneminde, Gazi Eğitim Fakültesi Fen Bilgisi Öğretmenliği A.B.D. 3. sınıf öğrencileri üzerinde yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada üçüncü sınıf normal öğretim şubelerinden rasgele bir kontrol, bir de deney grubu seçilmiştir. Kontrol grubunda 44, deney grubunda ise 46 öğrenci yer almaktadır.
