Abstract:

The game is one of the methods used in the teaching of social information. The purpose of this research is to reveal the opinions of social information teachers candidates about local children's games. The research has used phenomenology from quality research patterns. The study group consists of 20 social information teachers candidates (Men=8, Women=12) who study in a public university's social information teaching program in the 2019-2020 academic year and received the "Local Children's Games" course. The study group was determined by using the measurement sampling method from non-successful sample methods. The data is collected in a semi-configured interview form. The data is analyzed by the method of content analysis. The results were collected in 54 codes. Social information in the opinions of the teacher candidates in the local games "Hamble", "Bezirganbaşı", "I blinded" games were highlighted. They have declared that local children’s games enhance their communication, cooperation and social participation skills and their values of responsibility, solidarity and respect. Problems with local children's games have been identified with location/space problems, communication disorders and the difficulty of determining games according to the age level of the students. The arrangement of the game areas was presented as a suggestion, awareness of students and increased class hours. Keywords: Social information; Teacher candidates; Local children's games.
