Bu çalışmanın gayesi, üniversitesine devam eden öğrencilerin gençlik liderlik özellikleri ile sosyal-duygusal yetkinlikleri arasında bir ilişki olup olmadığını belirlemektir. İlişkisel tarama modeli kullanılarak yapılan araştırmada, veri toplama aracı olarak “Gençlik Liderlik Özellikleri” ve “Sosyal Duygusal Yetkinlik” ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada, üniversite öğrencilerinin genel olarak gençlik liderlik özelliklerine “sıklıkla”, sosyal duygusal yetkinliklerine ise “yüksek” düzeyde sahip oldukları belirlenmiştir. Yapılan analiz sonucunda, üniversite öğrencilerinin gençlik liderlik özellikleri ile sosyal-duygusal yetkinlikleri arasında pozitif yönlü ve yüksek düzeyde ilişki olduğu saptanmıştır. Ayrıca öğrencilerin gençlik liderlik özellikleri ile sosyal-duygusal yetkinlikliğin anlatımcılık ve uyumluluk alt boyutları arasında ise pozitif yönlü ve yüksek düzeyde anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Regresyon analiz sonucunda ise üniversite öğrencilerinin gençlik liderlik özelliklerinin sosyal duygusalyetkinlik düzeylerini anlamlı bir şekilde yordadığı tespit edilmiştir. Genel olarak üniversite öğrencilerinin gençlik liderlik özellikleri öğrencilerin sosyal-duygusal yetkinlik düzeylerine ait toplam varyansın %61’ini açıkladığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
The purpose of the current study is to determine whether there is a relationship between youth leadership characteristics and social emotional competences of students attending university. The “Youth Leadership Traits” and “Social Emotional Competence” scales were used as data collection tools. The study employed the survey model. As a result of the study, it was determined on the basis of the perceptions of the university students that they have the youth leadership characteristics “often” and social-emotional competencies at “high” level. It was also determined that there is a positive, high and significant correlation between the youth leadership characteristics and social emotional competences of the students attending the university. In addition, it was determined that there is a positive, high and significant correlation between the youth leadership characteristics of the students and the compatibility and expressiveness sub-dimensions of their social emotional competences. As a result of the regression analysis, it was determined that the youth leadership characteristics of the university students in general significantly predict their social emotional competency levels. In general, it was concluded that 61% of the variance in the social emotional competences of the university students is explained by their youth leadership characteristics.
