Abstract:

The increasing environmental problems in recent period, the excessive use of existing resources, the decrease of day by day and the deterioration of ecological balance have led all countries of the world to live in harmony with nature, and have led people to re-examinate their forms of production and consumption in each sector. The effects of this situation have been seen in the architecture field for a long time. In new projects, in addition to the increased sensitivity to the environment in the design and implementation phase, the importance of historic rural settlements made in accordance with the sustainable design criteria and reached today is also increasing. Rural settlements have an important place in our cultural heritage with their natural, historical and traditional values. Today, the traditional building culture in these settlements is disappearing for various reasons. This traditional fabric contains solutions that carry the proper use of materials and sustainable architectural design values. Most of the historic touch in rural areas are formed by housing structures as examples of civil architecture. It is important that the traditional housing architecture is consistent with nature, the production techniques that are at least harmful to the environment are transferred to future generations. In this context, the Kozbeyli settlement associated with the Foça district of İzmir as the work area was chosen. The fact that Kozbeyli has an original housing fabric in its choice as the work area, the position of today’s wind tribunes and energy production in a staircase, can be considered a lack of work on traditional fabric and the ecological sustainability of houses. The majority of the history of the village is made by houses built in the assembly construction technique. Today, most of the houses are destroyed and destroyed. The tourism sector, which is the main source of the natural environment, causes great damage to nature and cultural heritage. The original historical texture of the Kozbeyli settlement is also under danger due to environmental problems arising from increasing tourist activities. In terms of ecological sustainability of these structures, it is important to understand the approaches to ecological design in historic tissues. The study is conducted in the light of literary research and fieldwork documentation and general evaluation. In this context, Kozbeyli settlement was studied under the headlines of the metrics relating to the physical environment, the structure and energy gain. It has been seen that houses carry a certain ecological sensitivity in the production and use stages, and it is recommended that this sensitivity beined in new structures.
