Abstract:

The proposed study aimed at the study of breast health and health practices in family-type dairy enterprises in Tekirdağ province, the evaluation of the results of the somatic cell number (SHS) and total number of bacteria in tank dairy samples taken from enterprises, the comparison of the results obtained and the detection of the deficiencies. By selecting 50 different enterprises and raw milk collection centers located in different regions of Tekirdağ province, 150 mL sterile containers were taken milk samples. Milk samples measure SHS and the total number of living bacteria. On the day the tank milk samples were taken, the information on the mastitis control programs applied in the enterprise was assessed by the employees of the same enterprises or business owners by making an survey application. In the taken tank milk samples, the average SHS was 560.204,08 (±12.399,769) cells/mL, the total number of living bacteria was 1.796.718,36 (±156.573,31) kob/mL. After the survey and laboratory analyses made in the enterprises, the washing, establishment, thate dipping, front-right and front-milk control, dry period administration and breast health controls were almost not applied. As a result, it was established that in family-type dairy enterprises located in Tekirdağ province, the tank milk SHS and the total number of living bacteria are above acceptable values, which may be due to the non-applicated or non-observed breast health control programs in enterprises. The milk enterprises in this region have agreed that intense training seminars and/or information meetings in this area will be appropriate in order to keep breast health at the highest level and to bring milk quality to the best level.
