Dünya tarihinin gördüğü en büyük hükümdarlardan ve komutanlardan biri olan Avrupa Hun Devleti’nin imparatoru Attila yaklaşık 19 yıl süren hükümdarlık döneminde pek çok faaliyet gerçekleştirmiştir. Söz konusu faaliyetlerin ağırlığını çıktığı seferler oluşturmaktadır. Yayılmacı bir politika takip eden Attila, başında olduğu devleti o devrin en büyük güçlerinden biri hatta en büyük gücü konumuna getirmiştir. Akılcı hareket ederek bir tarafla savaş halindeyken diğer tarafla barış durumunda kalmaya dikkat etmiştir. Batı Roma ve Doğu Roma’yı dize getiren, hakimiyeti altına alarak haraca bağlayan Attila, İran’daki Sasaniler üzerine sefer hazırlığındayken hayatını kaybetmiştir. Böylece, dünya hakimiyetini tamamlayamayan Attila’dan sonra devlet uzun ömürlü olmamış, Attila’nın oğlu Dengizik’in Doğu Romalılar tarafından 469 yılında öldürülmesiyle devlet yıkılarak tarihe karışmıştır.
