Abstract:

Purpose: This study was conducted to study the impact of the control focus on anthropometric measurements, nutritional status and dietary quality. Individuals and Method: 72 male footballers aged 14-18 were included in the study. The Rotter Audit Room Scale (RDOÖ) was applied face-to-face by the researcher to determine the control centres of athletes. Three-day food consumption records have been collected to assess the nutritional conditions of athletes. The Healthy Food Index 2015 (SII-2015) has been used to evaluate the quality of the diet of athletes. Results: The RDOÖ score for athletes is 10.28 ± 3.15. It has been found that there is a positive and statistically meaningful weak relationship between the athletes’ age, total weight, bone muscle weight and body mass index values and the athletes’ “Control Room” points (r: 0.268; p = 0.023; p <0.05). The total SYI-2015 score is an average of 37.16±10.14 and the diet quality of 90.3% of athletes (n=65) is "bad" and 9.7% (n=7) is the level that needs to be improved. There was no statistically meaningful relationship between the athletes’ total SII score and the RDOÖ score (p> 0.05). Regression analysis shows that it is dependent on the weight of the skeletal muscle as a factor in determining the degree of control focus (F = 5.756; p = 0.019; p <0.05). Result: The findings of the athletes’ control focus are interesting, but more comprehensive studies are needed to determine the relationship of the control focus with anthropometric measurements and nutritional intake.
