Abstract:

In this study, a curriculum was designed and implemented to develop students’ attitudes and skills towards speaking English. In the first part of the study, a need analysis was made. In this section, many scientific studies on English speaking and the National Need Analysis Report on English Language Teaching in Turkish State Schools, conducted in collaboration with the British Council and Tepav, were examined. In addition, a preliminary study was conducted by researchers investigating the teachers and students' opinions on foreign language education. After the analysis of the needs, the basic achievements of the program are determined, content arrangements are made and learning experiences are designed. Participants in the teaching program 9. There are 20 volunteer students. The study was carried out in Karma. In the qualitative section of the study, the data obtained from the class diaries that the participating students fill in each week in the talk club, is studied and interpreted through content analysis. In the quantum part of the research, a semi-experienced pattern application was made. Two different measurement tools have been used as the English Speaking Anxiety Scale Form and the English Speaking Skills Test. Through the program evaluation form to be evaluated by the participants of the applied program, the opinions of the participating students were taken, the data were statically interpreted. At the end of all the assessments, the participants have achieved a significant level of awareness about the applied teaching design program, the teaching design program has provided a statistically significant increase in the students' attitude and skills towards English speaking, and the students have found the applied program effective.
