Abstract:

Purpose: Specialized Vocational Training Centers (UMEM) Skill'10 project is one of the programs implemented within the scope of combating unemployment in Turkey. The aim of this study is to examine the activities of the (UMEM) Skill'10 project in the selected provinces and to try to evaluate the success of the project in the selected provinces. Design/Methodology: The activities of this project in the selected provinces were examined by considering indicators such as employment rates, number of trainees, occupational groups after the project in the provinces during the period of 2011-2015, when the project was implemented. Findings: The results obtained through the examinations show that the activities of the project in these provinces differ according to the economic structure of the provinces and the sector in which the industry is predominantly produced. Limitations: The activities of the UMEM Skill'10 project were examined for the provinces of Aksaray, Karaman, Kayseri, Denizli and Konya. Originality/Value: There are many studies on unemployment and policies applied in the fight against unemployment in Turkey. However, there are very few studies on the UMEM Skill'10 project. In Turkey, where structural unemployment has come to the fore, this study is important in terms of examining the UMEM Skill'10 project and considering the evaluations made on employment creation in other programs planned to be implemented.
