Abstract:

Today, with the emergence of the pandemic and the frequent use of digital technologies, the use of social media has increased, so personal data has taken its place in big data. Therefore, issues such as the sharing, storage, security of personal data. issues have also become important. In this process, it is necessary to protect the identity information of individuals and to limit their sharing, to prevent unauthorized access, and to ensure the security of personal or corporate data. In this study, it is aimed to determine the level of trust of social media users towards digital data security, to discuss within the framework of the phenomenon of "digital identity" and to determine the level of awareness of digital data security. The research was carried out on social media users living in Turkey and having internet access. While the independent variables of the study are age, gender and educational status, the dependent variable is the participants' knowledge and awareness of personal data privacy in social media. The data in the study were collected from people living in Turkey and having internet access by the online survey technique via "Google Forms". The collected data were transferred to the IBM SPSS Statistic 25 program and analyzed. As a result of the research, it was revealed that there are significant relationships between the age, gender and education of the participants and the awareness of the protection of personal data.
