Abstract:

Symmetrical communication, the importance of which has been understood and focused by institutions in the last quarter century, plays an important role in achieving sustainable success of institutions. Symmetrical communication, which is based on mutual understanding, negotiation, balance and intense feedback in the institution, affects the corporate performances positively by increasing the sense of belonging of the employees. In addition, it can be said that in institutions where symmetrical communication is maintained, employees can reflect their creativity more easily. This situation is similar for academic staff working in higher education institutions. In the study, symmetrical communication was handled within the internal public relations process. With this study, it is aimed to measure the effect of symmetrical communication on the creativity of academicians. From this point of view, relational design, one of the quantitative research designs, was used to reveal the relationship between symmetrical communication and creativity. In the aforementioned research, a survey was conducted with 252 academicians who were determined according to the convenience sampling method. Accordingly, it has been observed that there is a positive and significant relationship between symmetrical communication and creativity. As a result, it has been seen that the balanced and symmetrical communication based on empathy within the institution has a positive effect on the creativity of the academicians
