Geleneksel Türk el sanatlarının önemli bir alanı olan çini sanatı kültürümüzün önemli bir parçasını oluşturan ve yıllar geçtikçe o dönemin özelliklerini içinde barındıran eşsiz bir sanat dalıdır. Çini üretiminde İznik ve Kütahya şehirleri geçmişten bu güne önemli merkezlerdendir. Çini sanatının bugün hala aynı önem ve gelenekler ile devam edebiliyor olmasının en önemli unsurlarından biri bu kültür içerisinde yetişmiş ve birikimlerini özveri ile aktaran çini ustaları/sanatçılarıdır. Kütahya’da çinicilik sanatı konusunda deneyim, bilgi ve becerilerini yeni nesile aktarma ve Kütahya çiniciliğini canlı tutma çabası ile bugün hala üretime devam eden ustalardan, Unesco’nun kıstaslarına uygun olarak Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı tarafından Yaşayan İnsan Hazinesi unvanı 2020 yılında Hamza Üstünkaya’ya verilmiştir. Somut Olmayan Kültürel Miras alanlarından biri olan el sanatları geleneğinin korunması ve yaşatılabilmesi için en önemli noktalardan biri miras niteliği taşıyan sanatın tespiti, bir diğeri ise o sanatı icra eden ustalarının/sanatçılarının tespitidir. Unesco, miras niteliği taşıyan unsurları yeniden yaratan, yorumlayan ve aktaran bu kişileri “Yaşayan İnsan Hazineleri” olarak tanımlamaktadır. Bu tanıma göre Somut Olmayan Kültürel Miras unsuru kadar onu yaşatan icracı da önemlidir. Bu bağlamda 2020 yılında “Yaşayan İnsan Hazinesi” unvanını almış Kütahya çini ustası Hamza Üstünkaya’nın hayatı ve çalışmaları tanıtılmaya çalışılmıştır.
Chinese art, an important field of traditional Turkish craftsmanship, is a unique branch of art that forms an important part of our culture and has over the years hosted the characteristics of that period. In Chinese production, Iznik and Kütahya cities are from the past to the present day important centers. One of the most important elements that Chinese art can continue with the same importance and traditions today is the Chinese artists who have grown up in this culture and transfer their accumulations with devotion. With the effort to transfer their experience, knowledge and skills in the Chinese art in Kütahya to the new generation and to keep Kütahya Chinese living today, the title of the Living Human Treasure by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, in accordance with UNESCO's shortcomings, was awarded to Hamza Üstünkaya in 2020. One of the most important points for the preservation and preservation of the tradition of crafts, which is one of the fields of non-subjective cultural heritage, is the identification of the art that has a heritage character, and the other is the identification of the master/artists who perform that art. The Unesco defines those who re-create, interpret and transfer the elements that have a heredity as "Live Human Treasures". This recognition is as important as the non-substantial cultural heritage element. In this context, in 2020 the title of "Live Human Treasure" was attempted to introduce the life and work of the Kutahya Chinese master Hamza Üstünkaya.
