Abstract:

This study aims to define the issues encountered by physically disabled individuals using wheelchairs regarding office spaces and equipment. For this purpose, a research questionnaire was applied to 40 randomly selected participants to specify the problems, wishes and needs of wheelchair users in their office spaces. As a result of the study, it has been resolved that a significant part of wheelchair users do not have access to work, executive and meeting tables, bookcases, file cabinets, hangers, kitchen and bathroom cabinets, centre table/coffee tables, cooler, oven, dishwasher, door handle, socket and electrical switch, as well as not being able to reach the toilet, washbasin and sitting furniture easily, experience transition problems due to the height of the level and door sill between some rooms, and they could not move comfortably and effortlessly due to the characteristics of the floor surface. As a result, according to these results, recommendations were suggested by taking into account the existing laws and standards.
