Abstract:

Within the scope of human and space interaction, especially the planning of the human elements and choosing a place are important in terms of protecting the environment. In this regard, it is noteworthy that decision-making processes based on multi-criteria are applied in choosing the appropriate place for industry in many areas, both at the international and national levels. The determination of suitable areas for industry in the context of environmental sustainability in terms of spatial organization and planning is a very important issue. Determining the appropriate areas for industry in the context of environmental sustainability in relation to land use planning and zoning is a very important issue. In this context, the study aims to determine the suitable area for industrial infrastructure development for Palandöken, Aziziye, and Yakutiye districts considering the physical and human geographical conditions. In the study, a model for determining the suitable location for industrial areas based on 10 criteria established by experts in the framework of multi-criteria decision-making methods and the infrastructure of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) has been proposed. As a result of the analyses, it was found that a large part of the land in the study area (83.19%) is unsuitable for the establishment and development of industrial zones. Thus, the knowledge and results obtained in the study will help to eliminate an important shortcoming in the selection of sites for industrial development projects in the research area and to make industrial investments in the right places. In addition, the model presented in this study will serve as an example for new studies that will be conducted to select the appropriate location by adapting it to different areas and locations, and will also prepare the ground for the development of new models or approaches.
