Amaç: İllüstrasyon sanatı hakkında ve illüstrasyonun çeşitlerini konu alan kavramsal çerçevede pek çok çalışma yapılmış olsa da illüstrasyon alanında yeni bir stil olan MBE stilini ve bu üslupla yaratılan çizimleri konu alan herhangi bir çalışmanın literatürde yer almadığı görülmüştür. Bu çalışma alanda tespit ettiğimiz bu eksikliği gidermeye yönelik olacak, MBE stilinin minimalizm ve düz tasarım kavramlarıyla olan bağlantısı irdelenerek bu kapsamda görsel örneklerle stilin tanımlaması yapılacaktır. Ayrıca çalışma MBE akımı ve bu üslup kapsamında yapılan üretimleri değerlendirmeye ve çözümlemeye odaklanmıştır. Kavramsal/Kuramsal Çerçeve: İllüstrasyon sanatında MBE stlinin ortaya çıkmasında etkili olan sanatsal gelişmelere değinilmiş, minimalizm, sadelik ve “flat design” akımıyla olan ilişkisi kavramsal boyutlarıyla değerlendirilmiştir. Yöntem: Bu çalışmada, son birkaç yılda popülerlik kazanmış illüstrasyon alanında yeni bir stil olan MBE tarzı konu olarak ele alınmış ve analiz edilerek eleştirel bir literatür taraması yapılmıştır. Aynı zamanda çeşitli dokümanlar incelenerek gerçekçi ve kapsamlı sonuçlara ulaşmak amacıyla nitel bir araştırma süreci izlenmiştir. Bulgular: MBE tarzında eserler üreten illüstrasyon sanatçıları desen, temel çizim, stlizasyon ve soyutlama bilgilerini dijital ortamda vektörel çizim becerileriyle birleştirerek aynı zamanda günlük hayattan esinlendikleri sanat deneyimlerinden de istifade ederek eserler üretmiş, dijital illüstrasyon alanının gelişimine de önemli katkılar sağlamıştır. Sonuç: İllüstrasyon sanatı, çeşitli stiller ve yaklaşımlarla ifade edilmektedir. Bu çeşitlilik, sanatçılara ve tasarımcılara kendi benzersiz tarzlarını yaratma ve eserleriyle iletişim kurma fırsatını sunmaktadır. Son yıllarda MBE stilinde üretilen minimalist illüstrasyon eserleri, popülerlik kazanan bir yaklaşım haline gelmiştir. Günümüz tasarım dünyasının karmaşıklığı içinde kolay algılanabilir olan ve gereksiz detaylar barındırmayan MBE illüstrasyon stilinin, Minimalizm ve flat tasarım anlayışından da etkilendiğini saptanmıştır. Bu stilin ve barındırdığı genel özelliklerin makale kapsamında tarihe kayıt düşülmesi sonraki dönemlerde araştırma yapacak kişiler, öğrenciler, illüstratörler ve illüstrasyona gönül verenler için de önemli bir boşluğu dolduracağı düşünülmektedir.
Purpose: While numerous studies have been conducted on the conceptual framework of illustration art and its various styles, it has been observed that there is a lack of literature specifically addressing the MBE style, which is a new style in the field of illustration. This study aims to fill this gap by examining the MBE style and the illustrations created within this style, while exploring its connection to minimalism and flat design concepts. Visual examples will be used to define the style within this context. Furthermore, the study focuses on evaluating and analyzing the MBE movement and the artworks produced within this style. Literature Review/Background: The artistic developments that have had an impact on the emergence of the MBE style in the field of illustration art have been addressed, with a conceptual evaluation of its relationship with minimalism, simplicity, and the "flat design" movement. Method: In this study, the MBE style, which has gained popularity in the field of illustration in recent years, has been examined and critically reviewed through a literature search. A qualitative research process has been followed, involving the analysis of various documents, in order to obtain realistic and comprehensive results. Results: Illustration artists who produce artworks in the MBE style have combined their knowledge of pattern, basic drawing, stylization, and abstraction with their digital skills in vector drawing. They have also drawn inspiration from their daily life experiences to create their artworks. In doing so, they have made significant contributions to the development of the digital illustration field. Conclusion: Illustration art is expressed through various styles and approaches. This diversity provides artists and designers with the opportunity to create their own unique styles and communicate through their artworks. In recent years, minimalist illustration artworks produced in the MBE style have become a popular approach. It has been observed that within the complexity of the contemporary design world, the MBE illustration style is easily perceivable and avoids unnecessary details, drawing influence from minimalism and flat design principles. It is deemed important to document the style and its general characteristics within the scope of this article, as it fills a significant gap for future researchers, students, illustrators, and enthusiasts of illustration.
