Abstract:

The aim of this study is to study the levels of social media addiction in adolescents in terms of some socio-demographic variables. This research is in the character of a visual study with a relative scan model. The study was conducted by 386 students. The research has applied personal information form and the scale of social media dependency for the purpose of collecting data. T test and one-way Anova test were used for the analysis of data. The research finds that adolescents’ social media addiction levels vary according to their social media use periods, the number of social media accounts they have and the purpose of social media use. The gender of adolescents, the level of academic success, the type of school, and the level of class they continue, have not shown statistically significant differences according to the levels of social media addiction. The survey also found that 20% of the adolescents who participated in the study were social media addicts. In light of the findings obtained, the authenticities of the study have been discussed in some suggestions.
