Abstract:

The objective of an evaluation on the eco-tourism potential of the mountains is to reveal the eco-tourism potential based on the formation, morphological, flora, fauna, climate and cultural characteristics of the mountains. It is located within the border of the province of Konya, Anamas, Gidengelmez, Karacadağ, Aladağ (Derbent), Great and Small Gevele Mountains, Loras and Bozdağlar; has the potential in terms of mountainous, natural walks (trekking), plant life (flora) observation, wildlife (fauna) observation, nature exploration (safari) tourism, nature photography, cycling tourism, horse-natural walks, science tourism, parapente landscape tourism, cavern tourism (geoturism), winter tourism, and adventure tourism. The richness of the natural and cultural resources of the Konya province indicates that alternative routes can be created in terms of diversification and evaluation of tourist products. It is necessary to accelerate the sub-building work to exploit the potential of the Konya Illi mountains. In this regard, the priority should be given to the mountains of Gevele, Loras and Kızılören, which are close to the city center of Konya. After that, Anamas, Gidengelmez, Karacadağ, Bozdağ and Aladağ (Derbent) will be appropriate to make environmental arrangements to meet only the necessary needs. In addition to these sub-structure work, the careful protection of the mountains should be given priority to the training and promotion work in order to leave the future generations a cleaner, more beautiful and viable environment. In this regard, the private sector, including the Ministry of Tourism, must be provided with social awareness by placing on the relevant platforms the eco-tourism potential and the educational work aimed at the use of this potential by press-publishing channels. It is subsequently proposed to promote and promote the theme of the national and international designation of the city of Konya by UNESCO as the "World Year of the Year" in 2007 and in 2016 as the "Islamic World Tourism Capital" by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
